Making abstract art is how I make sense of the world. I try to make a deep connection with others through my work. I play with paint and pastels, spatulas and squeegees, exploring relationships between shapes and lines, colors and textures. I paint intuitively, taking a risk by focusing on the process and letting the final result be uncontrolled. I working with acrylic paint, pastels and some collage.
Art was an enjoyable pastime while I had a career in public service and raised my family. In 2016 I studied at Central Technical in the Adult Art Program and developed a studio art practice. I have been inspired by non-objective and abstract artists, such as abstract expressionists, the Canadian group Painters Eleven and the Bay Area Figurative Artists, and of course, Picasso.
I enjoy exploring and playing in my Toronto studio and my "garage" studio at my cottage in Muskoka.
